What is GMV, and how is it calculated?
TL;DR. GMV is the dollar value your marketing sent toward a purchase at your retailers. Calculate it by multiplying each retailer's Price to Consumer by the number of clicks on that retailer.
What GMV is
Gross Merchandise Value, or GMV, is the total dollar value of shopping your marketing drove through Pour Now to the retailers who carry your products. It is the sum of two steps a shopper can take: Purchase Intent and Purchase Action. Each step moves a shopper closer to buying.
Purchase Intent
Purchase Intent is when a shopper clicks the Listing card or the Shop Now button, taking them to your product page on that retailer's website. They have chosen a retailer and headed to buy.
Purchase Action
Purchase Action is when a shopper clicks Add to Cart, which drops your product straight into that retailer's cart, one click from checkout. It is a stronger signal than intent, because the shopper has started the purchase.
Why the split matters
Your job is to move the shopper as far down the path as you can. You cannot control every retailer's checkout, but you can see how far your marketing carried each shopper, and compare which Listings and Links pushed people from intent into action.
What's coming
For a small group of retailers, we already receive true purchase confirmations, and we are working to expand that. When it is ready, your Analytics will add a Full Basket Value column for real completed baskets.
